What is Crime Stoppers?
Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization, made up of a board of concerned citizens to support the efforts of law enforcement agencies in Coles County, Illinois.  Relying upon the cooperation of the community, the media, and the local law enforcement, this program is designed to develop information in solving crimes.  It offers cash rewards up to $1000 to persons who furnish information leading to the arrest and filing of charges against person involved in criminal offenses.

Two basic premises lie at the heart of Crime Stoppers.  The first is that many citizens do not provide information to their local law enforcement agencies because they are afraid of becoming involved or of being harmed by the criminal element.  Crime Stoppers overcomes this fear by allowing callers to remain anonymous.  The second premise is that citizens are apathetic regarding crime.  Crime Stoppers overcomes this apathy by offering cash rewards to persons who call the program with information leading to the arrest or capture of wanted persons.

How Does It Work?                      You Can Help
When a call is received by Crime Stoppers, it is logged with the date, time, and a brief summary of the information.  Callers are furnished with a secret code number which is used in subsequent transactions.  If an arrest is made on an offender, or fugitive, the caller caller again calls Crime Stoppers and gives the code number.  Arrangements will be made for payment in CASH of any awarded money to preserve their anonymity.

Crime Stoppers assures that the caller remains anonymous with no pressure to reveal their identity and still collect their rewards.

 

 

 

 


 You can help support the work of Crime Stoppers by contributing any amount.  All contributions will be used specifically to fund the Coles County Crime Stoppers program and will assist in its efforts to identify and apprehend criminals and recover stolen property.  Coles County Crime Stoppers is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and income tax receipts are issued for eligible donations of $10.00 or more.
