Former Nokomis resident Mick Fieldbinder is playing the 1999 season for the Duluth-Superior Dukes of the independent Northern League.
Through six starts, as of June 22, Fieldbinder is 0-4 with a 6.50 ERA. In 36 innings he has allowed 48 hits and 26 earned runs.
Fieldbinder was released by the Minnesota Twins organization in early April 1999.
The right-handed pitcher spent the 1998 season with Class A Fort Myers of the Florida State League.
After 14 straight relief appearances, Fieldbinder returned to the starting rotation July 31. Through Aug. 14, Fieldbinder owns an 8-7 record, 1 save and an earned run average of 4.38.
In 1997 Fieldbinder pitched for the Class A Stockton Ports of the California League and Class AA El Paso of the Texas League. Mick finished the regular season with a 2-3 record and a 5.73 ERA for El Paso and an 11-6 record with a 2.83 ERA (second best in the league) for Stockton. He was a California League All-Star and his team beat a group of Carolina League All-Stars on June 17 in Durham, N.C. 6-5. Mick pitched a perfect sixth inning with one strikeout.
