Nokomis graduate Kris Detmers was released prior to starting his sixth full season in the minor leagues for the St. Louis Cardinals organization. The left-handed pitcher spent the last two months of 1994 in Class A Madison, Wis.; 1995 in Class A St. Petersburg; 1996 in Class AA Arkansas; 1997 split between Class AAA Louisville and Arkansas; 1998 back in Arkansas; and 1999 in Class AAA Memphis.

In mid-July 2000, Kris signed with the Springfield Capitals of the independent Frontier League. Detmers finished the season 4-2 with a 3.56 ERA in 43 innings.

• A strong finish to the season Aug. 27 at Cook County, his second complete game, this one 9 innings.
• A narrow win Aug. 22 vs. Chillicothe
• Results of his Aug. 17 start at Richmond
• The first loss of the season comes Aug. 11 at River City.
• A complete-game shutout Aug. 6 in a doubleheader against Johnstown.
• A win in his first start with the Capitals, coming July 29 against River City, the top team in the league.
• July 24 was a one-inning stint at Evansville
• A ninth-inning showing July 21 vs. Dubois County
• Kris' first appearance for the Capitals.
