The first Arabian to trailer 100's of miles, both on the trails and in the trailer, was the half-Arab/Saddlebred mare Grings Mejita. This mare was the quietest horse I've ever ridden. In all the years I owned her, I recall riding her with a saddle once--and that was in the Broomcorn Festival parade. Instead, I rode her using an Amish-customized bareback pad. Keep in mind I was young back in those days, but even then, mounting was a problem as I was never agile like Cathy's daughter Lianne who could just SPRING up onto Devil's bareback. Let me tell you another thing
I learned about a bareback pad....they are NOT good for riding
double! After only a few miles, they are capable of inflicting
silver-dollar sized saddle sores on the derriere of the
passenger!! This is an eye-witnessed documentation! |
