We set out on Sunday July 27, 2008 for Mayhill, NM. By the end of the day we pulled into our overnight stable at El Reno, OK. We'd been on the road 13 hours, but enroute had heard that Hurricand Dolly wiped out the road going up to Gillespie Ranch and that friends were stranded half mile under the campground! Go east back to Arcola or west to Bayfield, CO where the camp owner had room for 5 rigs and our herd of horses???

     So Randy and I headed further west to Farwell, NM where friends were held up for a second night while awaiting word from Gillespie Ranch. Sometime during Day 2 we got the word from Garretts that they'd finally gotten their rig up to the campground (in 4-wheel drive and throwing lots of Dolly's mud) but for lots of reasons, they decided that they'd had enough!

     So on Day 3 we left Farwell, NM and headed up to Bayfield, CO to join the rest of our camping friends that we meet each summer for a "Big Adventure"! The route we took to get there looks like a zig and a zag......but at least we all got to be together!
