Hail to the Chief
        President Clinton's visit to Champaign-Urbana
Here is an image I captured from the press section in the Assembly Hall.

When I found out I had the opportunity to cover the president and vice president's visit to the Assembly Hall, I was excited. Seeing a sitting president isn't an everyday occurrence, let alone seeing a sitting president the day after he gave the State of the Union address in the midst of allegations of an affair with an ex-White House intern and, even more important, allegations of perjury and obstruction of justice.

I didn't know I was going to cover the presidential visit until less than 24 hours before the big event, when I quickly faxed my personal information to obtain the media credentials that led me to an amazing experience. At the end of the day, I had memories to last a lifetime, a cloud of Air Force One exhaust fumes clinging to my hair, and a presidential news story to boot.
